Cycle of the Rose
JAN BRIGGS has been painting for about 20 years, using travel and nature as her main inspirations. Her work is represented in both private and corporate collections here and interstate. She uses a variety of mediums including watercolour, pastel, acrylic and scratchboard. This little watercolour is quite an early work.
AWARDS: have been received from various organisations, including Annual Show Champion (novice) and First Prize (landscape) at the Echuca Moama Show, the Cancer Council Daffodil Arts Awards, finalist in two of the annual Alice Bale Art Awards and Highly Commended at AGRA Winter Exhibition.
In 2015, she was accepted as a Full Member of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists (AGRA).
- contributed two paintings sold at Australian Ballet School fundraising event.
- several paintings sold at an exhibition to support Geraldine Cox's orphanages for homeless children in Cambodia.
- In 2007, she was invited to hold an exhibition at Stonehouse Gallery, Warrandyte - selling a number of paintings, photographs and cards.
- In 2017, she held an exhibition in her home, successfully raising over ten thousand dollars from sales of her paintings, which was donated to The Smith Family who help children in need to transform their lives through education.
This painting is a watercolour pastel 24cm x 68cm. It is in a black frame behind perspex and weighs 1.2kg. This painting has been donated by Janice Schmidt and can be collected in the Hobsons Bay area.
