SOME IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE...
The requirement for the Model Rules is not the only change required by the Act. Other changes worth noting are:
- Parish Vestry is renamed PARISH COUNCIL
- The "retiring" age of 72 for council members and church wardens is no longer required.
- There is a compulsory one year "sabbatical" for all wardens and council members after six years of service.
- Eligibility to be on the Parish Electoral Roll includes attendance at public worship 12 times in the preceding 12 months and 3 times in the preceding 3 months.
- There are better definitions of vicar, parish council and churchwardens
- Clearer more accountable financial and budgetary practices.
- New dispute resolution procedures.
